As R.E.A.L as it Gets

When one thinks of rap/hip-hop today, they think of straight rhymes and catchy beats. For one up and coming artist, hip-hop is so much more. R.E.A.L. has her sights set on not only success, but to inspire the people that listen to her music. Born in Bronx, New York, she is the niece of Grandmaster Flash and the daughter of DJ Easy Mike.

Hip-hop has been a huge part of her entire life.

“I started music at the age of 8. That’s when I wrote my first song,” she said. Her original passion dance, but thanks to some urging by a family friend she started rapping. “A family friend would always rap and I would repeat his lyrics to him. One day he challenged me to write my own song which I did. It was called Looney Tunes.”

Starting from such an early age, R.E.A.L. has years of experience in the game and is now finally ready to break out into the mainstream. Her single, Top of the World, already has a music video and is the debut single from her upcoming debut album, “Never Too Late.”

“The album name, Never Too Late¸ is showing people that it’s never too late to do something,” she said. “No matter what you do, no matter how you do it, as long as you’re doing it, it’s never too late to do something.”

Her first single, “Top of the World,” is a catchy tune that gets people inspired and shows the kind of creativity that R.E.A.L. has put into her album. As an emerging artist, R.E.A.L. is already inspiring people with her lyrics which is what one of her main goals is. “Never Too Late” will have many different producers and features on it, giving it a unique sound.

“Hopefully, if I have it my way there will be some top selling artists on the album,” she said. “There’s going to be decent rappers you know very well that I’m working on trying to get on the album.”

R.E.A.L.’s album will not only be a hip hop album, but will also have many different sounds on there. She is a huge R&B fan and also hopes to make a Gospel record at some point in her career.

“I hope to release a gospel record but I can’t do it now because I don’t think people will be able to swallow that now,” she said.

R.E.A.L. sets herself apart from many other artists in the fact that she’s not in this business for the money.

“I’m not looking for fame,” she said. “I’m looking for people to receive my message and how I deliver it depends on how they receive it.”

She is more than a hip hop artist , she has devoted most of her life to her career and now finally at the point where she is ready to make an impact on the music industry.

“You only get out of life what you put into it,” she said.
