‘Rescue Me’ Season Season Seven Coverage: Fires Left to Fight

The final season of “Rescue Me” has finally arrived. Throughout this seven year run, viewers have witnessed a bunch of insane and wacky roller-coasters that involved each character on the show. Although it will be sad to see such a smart and fun show close the curtain, there is one more thrill ride to overcome, which involves the shows main character, Tommy Gavin [Denis Leary]. What will be in store for the man who has many demons? Will he go out peacefully? Will he become the family man, or will it all end in darkness? With this, there are several plotlines which could make this final season a great success and go out with a bang.

One of the them involves the ten year anniversary of 9/11, and how Tommy will react, because of how it was such a dark day in life that triggered his life to pure darkness.

The first episode in this final season, “Mutha”, which had more laughs than drama. Overall, there were a few serious moments. One of which had Tommy on the hood of Janet’s car while she was driving. The end result turned out to be pretty funny. It is nice to see that both Janet and Sheila have bonded, the bad news is that Tommy is now an abuse case for both of their amusement. The laughs come from how Tommy reacts to Sheila and Janet treatment of him, in a typically cheesy way, that leaves him without a comeback.

This shows Tommy’s goofy and gull able side, that we are used to, especially in past seasons.

In the end, it’s like being welcomed home.

However, the funniest part of the episode takes place at the firehouse, where the crew, are watching Jersey Shore, and Mike talks about how Italians are mocked because of x,y, and z, and the rest of the crew give him a look of agreement. Then Mike gets himself caught into the trap, and gets abused verbally, which of course shows how much of a complete idiot he really is, which only goes to make his character more likeable and funny.

Shaun’s proposal to Colleen was a nice moment in the show. The only down side is what we find out about Colleen after she
was asked the question, which could lead down a dangerous road for her. It was funny to see that Uncle Teddy, and Mickey
are now owners of the bar, as well and that they also conduct AA meetings there after work.

The conclusion to this episode made you feel for Tommy, as ghosts of his past come to visit him; they tell him what he faces in
the future. Indeed it is a full house. He not only has to deal with the guilt of his Godson, Damien who is now brain damaged, but he has a two year old son, that involved his brother no less, a daughter headed down a dangerous path, and a wife who is pregnant, not to mention the ten year anniversary of 9/11, which will be the highlight of this season.

So far, there are questions that need to be answered after the season premiere of this final season, and the most important question is how it will end for Tommy Gavin. While we discover that Tommy has a lot on his plate, the bigger question is, how will he cope?

As a result, there will definitely be big fires to put out as this season goes on.
