True Blood Coverage: More Answers Please

Episode Commentary: Burning Down The House

With only two episodes left, it seems as if this adrenaline rush of the fourth season of “True Blood” has lost some of its luster. While it is now safe to say that a war between Antonia the witch and the vampires that includes Bill, Eric, Jessica, and Pam has fully heated up, a few more story lines that are either closed or still opened are yet to be determined. With the season headed towards its climax, there are still certain questions that need to be answered.

Throughout this episode, we witness a furious Sam Merlot search for Marcus. This is due to the brutal beatdown that Sam’s brother received from Marcus and other members of his pack. A sad moment took place that involved Sam and his brother, one that will either cause a tear to roll your cheek, or maybe just cause relief. With Alcide in Sam’s corner, it is quite obvious how this plot line will result when all is said and done. One problem is that Debbie could cause Alcide grief if he finds out what she is up to. He will be one angry wolf.

This episode focuses mostly on Antonia and Marny, who want to put an end to the vampires. However, we find out more about Marny’s role in this process. The problem with this scenario is that Bill wants to blow up the spot where Antonia and her captives are, that includes Tara. After Sookie, Jason, Jesus and Lafayette investigate where Antonia and the others are, they find themselves in a dangerous situation. Sadly, all but Jason become captive.

This episode saw a few changes, one that involves Eric, who is back to his old self, after Sookie had broken the spell with her fairy magic. Sookie is in a bit of a dilemma of her own, as she now discovers that she is in love with both Eric and Bill.

A positive from this episode is that Bill’s character seems to be back on the incline. His decisions and attitude are aggressive and ruthless and his actions as King have started to take a positive affect. He has forgotten about any distractions and considerations towards human life, even if they involve people who are close to him or the ones he loves.

The climax to this episode was rather cheesy though. There was rock music that stirred in the background, here come Eric, Pam, Bill, and Jessica dressed in this sort of super hero black leather armed and ready to fire at the place where Antonia and her captives, which now include Sookie, Jesus, and Lafayette, are. As the episode came to an end, we are left to wonder in an obvious matter what will happen next week and after we viewed the promo to the next episode, we were right.

Big surprise.

I grew up in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, the same neighborhood many of the best mafia films of our day were based on, idolizing guys like Robert Deniro, Martin Scorsese and Al Pacino. I'm also a big sports fan and follow the New York Yankees immensely.
