Two-time Grammy Award®-winning Radio Killa/Def Jam recording artist The-Dream announces the completion of his long-awaited fourth commercially-released album, LOVE IV MMXII, due this spring, and its first single, “Roc.” The “Roc” video will premiere today (February 23rd) on VEVO, and he will also appear on BET’s 106th & Park to premiere the video. “Roc” will go up for sale at iTunes on March 6th.

The next night, March 7th, The-Dream will kick off the “Kill The Lights Tour,” an exclusive 3-week tour of small intimate venues. Dates begin at the 600-capacity Greene Street Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, not far from his birthplace in Rockingham. The tour will encompass a two-night stand at SOB’s in downtown Manhattan (March 11-12th); and two separate performances at the SXSW (South By Southwest) Music Conference in Austin, Texas, to be announced in the coming weeks. The 15-city tour will wrap up on March 28th at the House Of Blues In New Orleans. (Please see complete itinerary below.)

LOVE IV MMXII is the follow-up to 1977 (a reference to the year he was born), the critically acclaimed album that was released for free on the Internet last year. Pitchfork called 1977, “a conscious change in style and sound…a deeply personal and presumably therapeutic album…” The New York Times reminded readers, “No songwriter and producer of the last few years has done more to define the sound of female R&B than Terius Nash (aka The-Dream). Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé – he’s reinvented them all.”

LOVE IV MMXII is also the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Love King (released June 2010) which hit the Soundscan Top 5 and spun off a pair of Top 40 R&B singles, the title-track “Love King” and “Make-Up Bag” featuring T.I. Love King followed up The-Dream’s RIAA gold Love vs. Money (#1 R&B, #2 pop, released March 2009), and his RIAA gold debut album, Love Hate (December 2007).

The-Dream’s debut Love Hate produced back-to-back hits that dominated 2008, including “Shawty Is A 10” featuring Fabolous (Top 10 R&B); “Falsetto” (#3 R&B); and “I Luv Your Girl” (#1 Rhythmic, #3 R&B). The-Dream made headlines in 2007-2008, when he proved himself a masterful hit songwriter for Rihanna (“Umbrella”), Mariah Carey (“Touch My Body”), and J. Holiday (“The Bed,” “Suffocate”). Most recently, he helped craft Justin Bieber’s RIAA triple-platinum worldwide smash, “Baby,” among many other hits.

The-Dream wrote several songs (among them “Just Fine”) on Mary J. Blige’s Growing Pains (2007) which won the Grammy® for Best Contemporary R&B Album. Similarly, at this year’s 54th annual Grammy Awards®, The-Dream was credited as a songwriter on Def Jam label-mate Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which won Best Rap Album.

The-Dream won Best New Artist honors at the 2008 BET Awards – in addition to his Grammy Award® nomination for Song Of The Year for “Umbrella” (as songwriter), and American Music Award nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. In 2010, he shared in two Grammy Awards® as a songwriter on Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” which won for Song of the Year and Best R&B Song.
