MOTOWN ARTIST KEM’s ‘INTIMACY’ ALBUM GOES GOLD; KEM’s THIRD ALBUM, ‘INTIMACY,’ OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED GOLD WITH 500,000+ US SALES

Two-time GRAMMY-nominated Motown Artist KEM’s 2010 album, ‘INTIMACY’ has officially been certified GOLD for reaching sales of 500,000 units.

“It’s truly an honor to have the music recognized,” said KEM. “To know that the fans enjoy the music enough to help my albums reach gold status sincerely humbles me. I’m in constant awe of the incredible level of love and support that all three albums continue to receive from fans, radio and the music community, and am so grateful to everyone involved for helping INTIMACY achieve gold status.”

INTIMACY is KEM’s third consecutive album to reach Gold status, after his first album, KEMISTRY, achieved the milestone in 2004, and his second in 2005 (KEM: ALBUM II).

“We are so grateful for the support of KEM’s fans and the UAC radio community,” said Toya Hankins, KEM’s manager and owner of Project Producers, LLC. “Last winter, we were made aware that INTIMACY was within 40,000 copies of reaching Gold status (500,000 sales). We created a campaign to ‘Help KEM Go Gold With INTIMACY,’ and just a few months later, with the help of KEM’s dedicated fans, we’re now celebrating his third Gold Record.”

INTIMACY ON THE CHARTS

INTIMACY debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart in August 2010, and the album closed 2011 with prominent year-ending chart positions, ranking #37 on the Top R&B Albums of 2011 chart, and #160 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart.

Two of INTIMACY’s singles landed in the top ten on the Top Adult R&B Songs of 2011 chart: #6: “If It’s Love” and #9: “Share My Life.”

INTIMACY has produced four hit singles. The first, “Why Would You Stay,” was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards (Best Male R&B Vocal Performance/Best R&B Song) and spent several weeks at #1 on the Urban AC Radio charts. The album’s second and third singles, “Share My Life” and “If It’s Love,” both climbed into the chart’s top five. The fourth single, “You’re On My Mind,” is currently in the top ten and climbing up the chart. All four songs are still highly requested on radio.

KEM, himself, claimed positions on the annual charts – he was slotted at #3 on the 2011 Top R&B Artists chart (behind #1: R. Kelly and #2: Charlie Wilson). He also claimed #9 on the 2011 Top Hip-Hop/R&B Songwriters chart.
