Most Anticipated Sequels for the Rest of 2012

2012 is the year that sequels take over in the world of gaming. Most games being released this year are follow ups to legendary games in the past. The gaming community has possibly never seen this many sequels being released all at the same time.

Here are the top ten most anticipated video game sequels that have yet to released in 2012.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode II: Classic Sonic the Hedgehog gameplay will soon be returning with sonic the hedgehog 4 episode 2. The fans fell in love with the first episode and sega hopes they will love the second part. Sega has hinted that there will be new things that have never been seen. They have also stated that the return of Sonic’s sidekick, Tails, as well as Metal Sonic. This is the ideal game for anyone who loves those old school 2D Sonic games.

Dead or Alive 5: This could possibly be the next big fighting game. Always full of colorful characters and a few from various games, Dead or Alive has always been a great fighter. The characters in Dead or Alive 5 are said to be more realistic than in the previous games. The environment, as always, will also have a lot to do with the gameplay, which makes it a nice alternative to Tekken and Street Fighter.

Transformer’s Fall of Cybertron: The sequel to Transformers: War for Cybertron is only a few months away. This time, the Autobots and Decepticons have their final battle on Cybertron before its destruction. Most of the characters from war of Cybertron will be back with the addition of a few fan favorites such as Bruticus. The game will also feature the Dinobots. Unlike “War for Cybertron,” each character will have special abilities, such as Jazz who will have a grappling hook and the Combaticons will be able to turn into Bruticus. This game is truly one for the fans.

Resident Evil 6: Leon S. Kennedy will return in Resident Evil 6, a game that the fans have been waiting for since the release of Resident Evil 5. There will be three storylines in Resident Evil 6, each played with a different character and their partner. This game is said to be the most impressive RE yet.

Darksiders 2: This is the sequel to Darksiders which will focus on one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, War, and his quest to clear his name from for being blamed for the all-out battle between heaven and hell that led to the extinction of the human race. Darksiders 2 storyline happens the same time as War’s story in the first game. Death is set out help his brother clear his name as he knows War is the most honest out of the four horsemen. Unlike the first game, Darksiders 2 takes place in the underworld rather than on earth. The game also will have RPG elements unlike the first. Death will be able to gain new armor and is filled with much more dungeons.

Borderlands 2: Gearbox’s sequel to its hit roleplaying-shooter has finally come into view. Gearbox has come up with four brand new characters for the game. Although slightly similar to those of the first game, the new characters seem like they will each offer new gameplay mechanics. The story will take place five years after the end of the original game. A man known by Handsome Jack has taken credit for what the vault hunters did in the first game and is now trying to industrialize Pandora. The four characters from the first game will be NPCS in Borderlands 2 and will give missions.

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance: After waiting year after year Kingdom Hearts fans are finally getting a game that brings the story one step closer to the mysterious Kingdom Hearts 3. Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance will follow Sora and Riku as they take part in their Mark of Mastery Exams given by Yen Sid. In this game players will be able to play as young Sora and Riku using the Drop System, which switches the two characters automatically once the Drop Gauge is depleted. This game will bring back multiple characters from previous Kingdom Hearts game as Sora and Riku prepare for the return of Master Xehanort.

Assassin’s Creed III: Finally Assassin’s Creed is moving on from the character of Ezio Auditore. This time around when Desmond enters the animus he will be reliving the life of Connor Kenway. The Assassin’s and the Templars have moved over to America and are continuing their war. The story takes place in the American Revolution as Kenway is dragged into the revolution when his home is attacked by colonists. During the game, Conner will encounter major historical figures such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson

Halo 4: The next big release for the franchise and is possibly the most anticipated game coming up this year. The games story follows Halo three and allows gamers to return to the story of Halo’s main character Master Chief. The game follows chief to a new world and is said to focus on the mysterious forerunners.
