‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 2 Spoilers: Even More New Characters Announced

Even more Disney characters are set to appear in Once Upon a Time’s second season—from both the fairy tale world and beyond.

July has seen even more spoiler alerts for the hit show, which has captivated audiences by bringing their favorite fairy tales to life. So yet again, if you’d rather steer clear of knowing too much, we suggest you stop reading now.

This upcoming season, creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis—former producers of Lost—told TV Guide they plan to feature a few more prominent Disney characters, including Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and Aladdin and Jafar (Aladdin).

They also say they are looking for a role for Lost’s Jorge Garcia, who is now out of the job since Fox’s Alcatraz has been cancelled. Other former Lost stars have appeared on Once Upon a Time already (Alan Dale as King George and Emilie de Ravin as Beauty and the Beast’s Belle), and the creators say they will not be the last.

Other Disney characters to appear will be Sleeping Beauty as well as Mulan, who may not be a fairy tale character but is definitely going to be an interesting choice. TV Line has confirmed that Irish actress Sarah Bolger (The Tudors, In America) will portray Princess Aurora, a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty, while Hangover 2 and Real World star Jamie Chung will play Mulan, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Other stars are also getting promoted—de Ravin’s Belle will become a series regular, as will Meghan Ory’s Red Riding Hood. With the introduction of Aurora, we can also speculate that we will yet again see the evil Maleficent (played by True Blood’s Kristin Bauer van Straten) reappear, despite her character’s demise in the season finale…

As for how these stories all intertwine, especially now that the curse is broken and magic has been reintroduced throughout Storybrooke—well, we’ll just have to wait until the fall when Once Upon a Time returns to the Sunday night lineup on ABC at 8 p.m.
