FringeNYC presents I’m Sorry, one woman’s funny, heartbreaking and bold journey to finding her voice, written and performed by Katya Lidsky, directed by Gilles Chiasson. Every performance will provide awareness and donations to a non-profit organization which helps animals.  Part of the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival, the production will be held at Venue #6: The White Box @ 440 Studios, 440 Lafayette Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10003 for six performances from August 18-26, 2011.

Do you like me? Do you ‘get’ me?  Where do I belong? A people-pleasing apologist turns animal-loving activist in an entertaining and poignant story about finding your purpose and affecting positive change.  Katya Lidsky plays 16 characters– some female, some male, some four-legged – shining a spotlight on contemporary animal welfare issues while tackling the challenges of integrity and self-esteem.  Sometimes you have to find something to believe in before you can stop saying I’m Sorry.

I’m Sorry plays for six performances from August 18 through 26 as follows:  Sat. 8/18 @ 9:00pm; Sun. 8/19 @ 7:15pm; Wed. 8/22 @ 6:30pm; Fri. 8/24 @ 5:00pm; Sat. 8/25 @ 9:15pm; Sun. 8/26 @ 2:00pm.

I’m Sorry is presented by FringeNYC.  Producers: Eric Friedman, Jim Jensvold, and Luis & Jenny Lidsky; Director: Gilles Chiasson; Production Designer: Karyl Newman; Sound Designer: Ross Goldman; Stage Manager: Brian Rardin; ACR: Kelsey Lidsky; Publicist: Paul Siebold/Off Off PR.

Katya Lidsky (Writer and Performer) wrote this one-woman play as a way to merge her love of animals with her love of performing. Katya did her undergraduate studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, then received her master’s degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.  She is an actress and comedian, and has numerous TV, film and theatre credits. She is a volunteer at local animal shelters, and works for Adopt-a-Pet.com, North America’s largest nonprofit pet adoption, matchmaking web service.

Gilles Chiasson (Director) is currently the Executive Director at The Performing Arts Education Centers of Las Virgenes and formerly served as Producing Director of Reprise Theatre Company. As an actor, Gilles originated roles in the Original Broadway Casts of Rent, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Civil War, and Baz Luhrmann’s La Boheme. He also manages and teaches at the Actors Gym, a workshop for working actors and writers in Los Angeles.

Past praise for Katya Lidsky – “Nature and Purpose of the Universe” by Christopher Durang

“But the star of this warped vision is the comically brilliant Katya Lidsky as Elaine, the narrator’s friend who is assigned to play a multitude of parts: an insane nun; a crazed, mean census taker; a Scandinavian film star.”- Backstage West
