Alanis Morissette in Talks to Join ‘American Idol’ Judges’ Panel

As the American Idol judge search continues, many names have been dropped into the hat of potential judges to fill the seats vacated by Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, one of which has already been taken by superstar Mariah Carey.

While teen heartthrob Nick Jonas has already proclaimed that he is in the running for the position, reportedly going up against Sean “Diddy” Combs and Pharrell Williams, another star who is well beyond her teenybopper years has also stepped up to the plate: Alanis Morissette.

While speaking with Las Vegas CBS radio station Mix 94.1, the “Ironic” singer announced that she may also become a judge on American Idol’s 12th season. She is no stranger to singing competitions, acting as a mentor on The Voice as well as performing on Idol—so perhaps she has a bit of pull with the show.

“I’m in talks with somebody right now. I can’t name any names, but I’m pretty excited at the thought of doing it more formally,” she said. “I still have to investigate further, and that’s all I can say.”

Of course, Morissette already has a full schedule lined up for the rest of this year, as she is set to release her upcoming album, Havoc and Bright Lights, on August 28. Meanwhile,American Idol returns in January 2013 on Fox.
