TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: No Soup for Roode

The Aces and Eights continued their onslaught on Impact wrestling this week, kind of. Suspicion was running wild as to whom they were going to beat up. At first, it appeared to be Brooke Hogan, but Bully Ray, Sting, Jeff Hardy and Austin Aries, among others hit the ring and saved her.

They didn’t save James Storm at the end of the show, but his beating wasn’t all that bad.

So who’s helping the gang then?

On another note, with a bevy of contenders for the World title, TNA as to find a way to continue to keep all these personalities in the mix after the Bound for Glory series is over.

With Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy and Austin Aries throwing out a challenge to the gang for next week and the return of Hulk Hogan, Open Fight Night should be an interesting night.

What isn’t interesting is the continued angle between AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. Like an episode of Maury Povich, it just needs to end. Enough is enough. No one cares if he’s the father of Claire’s baby or not. Move on and let Daniels and Frank Kazarian get the Tag Team Division going again and put Styles in an angle where he can show what a talented performer he is.

Bobby Roode’s promo on Impact last night was intriguing. With no more momentum, he needed a special promo to stay over as a heel. Instead he sounded like Sol Rosenberg from the Jerky Boys. “Sue me? Sue Everybody.” At this point, Roode is just annoying. Unless he’s going to make a face turn, he’s got to pull a rabbit out of a hat and soon. No one wants to hear him complaining.

So what now Bobby? It’s fair to say TNA creative doesn’t know either.

With no legitimate heels in the company aside from Aces and Eights, TNA is either preparing for a long program the biker gang or for something completely out of left field.

Matches:

Bound for Glory Series: Magnus vs. Samoa Joe: A good athletic opener. Magnus continues to use that scoop Brainbuster as a setup hold. It definitely improves his repertoire of moves. However, Samoa Joe is a different kind of beast. After a vicious swinging Urinage Suplex , Joe latched on his signature submission maneuver and avoided a Magnus counter into a Mahistrol Cradle for the win. After the match, Magnus hit Joe with a chair.

Bound for Glory Series: AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels: Styles was in the driver’s seat early. If he won this match, he could get a paternity test to find out if Claire’s baby was his. If he lost, he had to accept responsibility for the child. While this wasn’t one of their bouts from 2005, it was adequate, although it ran a bit long. Daniels did fight back with some signature offense and some vicious kicks. Styles got back into the match with a diving Powerbomb. After a Pump-Handle Gut-Buster and a clothesline, Daniels looked like a rag doll. Daniels almost got a cheap win with Kazarian’s help, but Styles hit the Pele right after for the win. After the match, Styles nailed Daniels with the Styles Clash.

TNA Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne vs. Brooke Tessmacher, Guest Referee Taryn Terrell: A sloppy, yet good-looking match. Tessmacher won the match and the title back with her Belly-to-Back Facebuster after Rayne spent more time arguing with Terrell.

Bound for Glory Series: Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy: With all the commercials, it was hard to get into this match. Ray was in control for most of it. Hardy had the typical face flurry towards the end, but Ray kicked out of the Swanton Bomb. Aces and Eights nearly attacked Bully Ray, but again, the good guys saved the day. Hardy hit the Twist of Fate for the win. After the match, James Storm, who was ringside, inadvertently kicked Hardy in the face.

Soon after, the Aces and Eights were back in the ring and Storm was the victim of a beating.
