‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ Sequel Delayed until 2014

Movie fans will have to wait a bit longer for The Girl Who Played with Fire, the sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, thanks to screenwriter Steven Zaillian taking a bit longer to pen the script than planned.

A source close to the production spoke toEntertainment Weekly, explaining that production cannot continue until the screenplay is ready, meaning the film will probably not be out in 2013.

Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, meanwhile, are both locked in to return as Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist, Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal said. No director is currently attached to the film, but Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher has not backed down and is the first on the production’s list.

EW’s source, meanwhile, assures that there is no rush, but they are indeed “moving forward.”
