TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Bully’s Time

In just a few minutes, Joey Ryan made this episode of TNA Impact Wrestling fun.

His facial expressions alone were hilarious. The heat he gets from the crowd is confirmation. This guy has mid-card stability written all over him. He won’t be a champion of a major company, but he’ll entertain for a long time. TNA needs more guys like him.

His match with Al Snow won’t sell the card, but it should be a fun eight to ten minutes.

Again, TNA needs a few more people who can do that.

This episode was solid. Sting looked for a partner for his big match at Bound for Glory against Aces and Eights and of course, the biker gang got to Mr. Anderson first.

With no choice, he went with Bully Ray instead.

Just like Ryan, Ray is one of those guys. In a tag team setting, there aren’t many better than him. This angle just got kicked up a notch.

With so much build-up going into this Aces and Eights storyline, TNA better hope that it pays off. If not, like many of their faction-based angles that have gone sour over the years, it’ll be a waste of everyone’s time.

Away from this angle, the matches were mostly enjoyable, although routine.

Matches:

Mr. Anderson vs. Gunner w/ Kid Kash: Anderson dominated early on with his normal assortment of clotheslines, dropkicks and neckbreakers. Gunner fought back with elbows and submission holds. Anderson countered with the Mic Check for the win. After the match, Kash attacked Anderson, but Kash caught the Mic Check, too.

Tara and Gail Kim vs. TNA Knockouts Champion Brooke Tessmacher and Knockout Tag Team Champion ODB: Kin had a tough time with the bigger ODB. Tara also had problems with the large pectorals of ODB, who hit a Bronco Buster on the former Knockouts champ. Eventually OBD faltered however, which allowed Tessmacher to get the hot tag. She’s still green, but she hit a slew of maneuvers in a small amount of time. Regardless, Tara was one step ahead. She used Kim as a decoy and nailed Tessmacher with the Widow’s Peak for the win.

TV Champion Samoa Joe vs. Rob Van Dam: Routine match. RVD went for the Five-Star Frog Splash and Joe grabbed him on the top rope. What happened next? You guessed it. Muscle Buster.

Chavo Guerrero w/Hernandez vs. Kurt Angle w/ AJ Styles: Nothing special, although both of these guys worked hard for the fans. Guerrero missed the Frog Splash and Angle countered with the Angle Slam. Distracted by Hernandez, Guerrero was able to roll up Angle for the win.

X-Division Champion Zema Ion vs. Doug Williams: the craft veteran threw around Ion early, but the champion latched on the cross-arm breaker for the win. After he refused to break the hold and got DQed.

Non-Title: Jeff Hardy vs. Bully Ray vs. TNA Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries: Ray had something to prove and won this match quickly with a Bully Bomb on Hardy while Aries was preoccupied.
