Dead Trigger Review: Zombie Fun

The Apple Store, just like everywhere nowadays, has been biten by zombies. Step into the game world of Dead Trigger and its incredible graphics. After the great success of their previous title, “Samurai II: Vengeance and ShadowGun,” MadFinger still manages to come up with an even more impressive game this year. Dead Trigger has got to be one of the best first-person shooters on the App Store.

The game plot however has been done before. The world has become corrupted with the spread of a virus, now the earth is overrun by zombies. Your mission is to survive and protect those who remain alive, all while you collect gold, increase your weapon arsenal and complete fairly tough missions.

The gameplay is smooth. A well set up virtual control stick moves your character on the left of the screen. While on the right you’re able to control the view angle and gun aim with the swipe of your finger. You can also reload, focus your scope, and see the remaining ammo; this makes the game easy to multitask.

What makes the game addicting are its features. You’re able to choose your mission from a 3D map of the city where there is also a “survival of the fittest” Arena, a bank, a weapon shop, and more. The usual atmospheres in gameplay are subway stations and empty lots that make you feel like you’re trapped. Not to mention the creepy moans of the zombies that get louder with each moment that passes.

But beware. They come at you from every direction.

Dead Trigger, however, is far from perfect. Even though there are a variety of destructive toys to play with, like the Lupara and Winchester, you can’t obtain them without some gold first. That’s actually tougher than the game itself. You can either slowly attain gold by passing an incredible amount of missions, or you can decide to complete tedious advertising tasks from MadFinger’s partner Tapjoy.

There are also some notable glitches in the game, but it’s nothing you can’t handle.

Overall the game has amazing graphics, deadly zombies and a well-developed map, made possible by using the cross-platform Unity 3D engine. Plus, you’ll never get bored as the game creates unlimited side missions for you to test your skills. Even better, it’s totally free.
