TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Bully’s Day Out

“This is the group that will destroy TNA,” Aces and Eights Sergeant at Arms, Devon.

Not exactly.

The mediocre promo the group started the show with was just the beginning of a terrible night for the Aces and Eights. It continued when Sting and Bully Ray manhandled Doc and Devon in a Main Event tag team tables match.

Not the way to build a heel faction.

Away from the continued angle between TNA and Aces and Eights, the solid card and Rockstar Spud segment added some much-needed beef and fun.

Although the crowd was frenzied throughout, this was definitely a weaker episode. There just didn’t seem to be a sense of urgency. Even the Main Event was a slow-paced mess.

Aside from Robert Roode and Austin Aries winning the Tag Team Titles, this was a forgettable episode.

Matches:

X- Division Champion Rob Van Dam vs. Kenny King vs. Zema Ion: A high-flying opener that saw RVD steal the match after King and Ion did most of the work. After King nailed Ion with a crazy Double Knee and covered Ion, RVD pulled King off and got the pin for himself.

Jesse Godderz vs. James Storm: Godderz was the aggressor early, but Storm fought back with the Eye of the Storm and more signature offense. Storm won with the Last Call Super Kick.

Tag Team Champions Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero vs. Austin Aries and Robert Roode: The champs kept the whimsical heel team at bay, but Aries and Roode came together at the exact right time. Using submissions, quick tags and isolation, they proved just how solid a tag team they are. This match ran for a long time though- perhaps too long. After about ten minutes, the match lost a lot of intensity. The last minute was fantastic however, as Aries and Roode combined forces as a Roode Spinebuster and an Aries 450 earned them the Tag Team Titles.

Knockouts Champion Tara vs. Miss Tessmacher: Not much wrestling here. Tessmacher was supported by Tara throughout the match. Although Tessmacher did sell for Tara, the former champion was way too resilient for a green, yet promising talent. Tessmacher eventually got the win with her Test Shot finisher (Tara seemed to be looking for her beau, Jessie) in the non-title match.

Tag Team Tables: Doc and TNA Television Champion Devon vs. Bully Ray and Sting: The Aces and Eights jobbed out through the first few minutes of the match. At will, Ray and Sting manhandled the bigger and stronger team of Doc and Devon. It was almost comical when Ray and Sting both nailed Devon with a Stinger Splash. Later on, Sting and Ray hit the “Whassap” on Devon as well. The crowd loved it, but it was incredibly cheesy. After Mike Knox got involved and flubbed his interference, Sting nailed Doc with the Scorpion Death Drop. It left Ray and Devon alone. Although Devon got the upper hand, Ray “Hulked Up” and drilled Devon through the table with a Urinage Suplex.
