With less than ten days before TNA’s Lockdown pay per view, the company scrabbled to put the rest of their angles together. With a new X-Division Champion and the team’s announced for the Lethal Lockdown match, things are shaping up rather quickly.
In our weekly TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings, we take a look at the stars with the most momentum going into one of the company’s signature events.
5: Velvet Sky: A clean and shockingly quick win over Tara may have many of the fans fooled, but Sky still needs a lot of polish. Although she hit all of her offense without a hitch and is getting better every week, she’s still more a beautiful entertainer than a “worker.â€
4: Ivelise Felez: After a mediocre showing on Tough Enough last year, a darker-haired, in better shape Felez had a wonderful knockouts match with Lei’d Tapa. Using a variety of high-flying moves, but maintaining a strict, submission and strike-based offense, Felez won with a Guillotine Choke. If she doesn’t earn an Impact contact, it’s a shame. Hell, with Tapa’s size and strength, she deserves a spot too.
3: Austin Aries: Not his best match in TNA this week, but it was easily one of the most intriguing heel finishes on the show, ever. After the referee stopped Aries from hitting Hernandez with the title, Aries pulled a chain…out of pants…belted Hernandez with it…then threw it down Hernandez’s pants…for the win. If that’s not entertaining, then you’re watching the wrong television show.
2: Kenny King: Wins over Rob Van Dam don’t happen often. Wins for titles over RVD are even rarer. With a fantastic in-ring arsenal and good promo work, King has made himself a legitimate X-Division star. His win over RVD on Impact isn’t the end of their feud though. Easily with some of the best chemistry in the company, the two are all but confirmed a rematch at Lockdown.
1: The Aces and Eights: You thought the group was barbaric before? You haven’t seen anything yet. With Kurt Angle uncovering the truth behind the group’s leader this week on Impact, it’s only a matter of time until Angle shares the news. Once that happens, expect the club to reclaim the savagery that put them on the TNA map in the first place.
