Adema “Topple the Giants” Review: A Rush

Coming off of the album “Kill the Headlights,” Adema certainly has a comeback ahead of them. And they’ve hit the jackpot. In their latest release, “Topple the Giants,” they’ve kicked up the volume and taken a few shots of adrenaline. They’ve kicked it up a notch with this preview of what is in store for fans later. With Tim Fluckey at the helm on both lead vocals and guitar, Adema is leaner and meaner.

Starting right out of the gate with “Resolution”, Adema hits the notes right. After lulling you into thinking that this will be a slow, droning tune, they suddenly snap you out of it with a cavalcade of drums and a raging howl. They have sucked you in from the get go, and they won’t spit you out until they’re done.

Adema is back; possibly better than ever.

We move on to the eponymous track, “Topple the Giants,” which only adds to the blood-pumping of the prior jam. With pulsing guitar riffs, Fluckey’s intense vocals and guitar riffs, and drums a’drumming, this song carries the weight of the album’s overall arching message. Adema is ready to come back and destroy the charts and critics once again.

But don’t let its opening fool you. Adema still makes sure to include their fair share of echoing ballads. The highlight of these is by far “Lions.” With its crescendos of vocals, it is almost as if it was recorded in a cave, allowing for the sonics to blend and bounce. It creates a delicious musical slushie, a delight for the ears and mind.

Being an EP, as opposed to a full-length album, this has a short track listing at a mere seven songs. However, this only works to make the fans salivate at what is coming next. This latest release will be great for diehard fans and newbies alike. From its hard-charging jams, to its almost crooning ballads and melodies, Adema is back at full throttle, ready to hit the charts once again.

You’ll be ready to topple some giants.
