A Monster in Paris Review: Visual Candy for the Whole Family

“A Monster in Paris” is a film that can be enjoyed alone or with the family and can make anyone giggle. The PG-rated production puts the audience in suspense as the mystery search for a monster begins. It touches the heart of almost everyone as the story unfolds. The use of interesting characters with harmonious voices allow the story to be executed with a special touch which will not allow you to get up from your seat as soon as it begins to play.

“A Monster in Paris,” features voices from Adam Goldberg (NYC 22), Jay Harrington (Guilty), Bob Balaban (Moonrise Kingdom), Vanessa Paradis (Low Profile), Danny Huston (Magic City), Catherine O’Hara (Home Alone) and songs by Sean Lennon, giving the story the perfect touch to a musical and a successful and enhanced effect of execution.

The animated feature takes place in a small town in Paris during 1910 and introduces us to an unsuccessful inventor, Raoul, and his best friend, shy movie projectionist, Emile. After Raoul convinces Emile to make a delivery to a scientist, the two friends horse around in the laboratory without permission. Soon enough, an accidental chemical explosion leads to the creation of a “monster” and changes the lives of everyone in Paris.

As everyone in town avoids the street at night and hides from this mysterious, yet lovable monster, the beautiful, modest and friendly Lucille helps him out by providing him shelter and by giving him the name of Francoeur. Spirited Lucille and kind-hearted Francoeur join forces and create a friendship that only grows in the face of the trials and tribulations of the film.

Despite their unpleasant past, Raoul and Lucille, former flames, with the help of Emile, manage to keep Francoeur safe and away from aspirant Mayor and Commissioner Maynott, who uses the monster to his convenience as a way to gain the trust of the citizens.

Directed by Shark Tale’s, Bibo Bergeron, “A Monster in Paris” includes zoom shots, dolly shots, close-ups and others intimate and close-up visuals, which allow the audience to capture every single detail of the movie. It gives the film a great cinematographic touch. The colors and the high-quality resolution included in this 3D film, make “A Monster in Paris” a marvelous song for the eyes.

Between the featured voices for each character, the giggles and the execution of each scene and the fascinating story behind it make “ A Monster in Paris,” a fantastic entertaining experience to enjoy in a couch with popcorn along with the family.
