Hell’s Kitchen Recap: Black and Blue

The stars may be out in force, but the Blue Team’s star is dwindling in this week’s episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.”

This episode started off from the exact spot the last episode ended. Cyndi’s halibut was up against Jon’s mahi mahi for immunity in the next elimination. For what seems like the first time this season, a member of the Blue won.

Now, everyone knows how chefs that gain immunity in “Hell’s Kitchen” usually end up: They royally mess up dinner service and it. But Jon managed to keep his immunity, despite some drawbacks at dinner service.

Speaking of dinner service, the entire episode was a one-hour long dinner service. It started off with Zach kicking himself over his dish during prep. His dish was his version of surf and turf that had shrimp on top of pieces of fillet mignon that were cut into tiny medallions. He even cried during the camera confession and left for a while.

While Zach was out, Jon dropped some roasted string beans and some of the liquid splattered on the stove. That caused the entire kitchen to get filled with smoke.

On that dinner service each team once again had VIPs at their chefs table. The Red had the star of “Law and Order” and “Suburgatory” Jeremy Sisto and the Blue had the host of “Extra” Maria Menounos.

Of course, these stars had a show they would never forget.

In the Blue, Ramsay told Anthony “out in one.” Anthony had no clue what that meant so Ramsay had to show what it meant (once out of the pan.) That was followed with Jon making a bland risotto. That wasn’t the worst though. Zach and Anthony had terrible service. Anthony He made one lobster tail for the risotto instead of two. He blames Jon for only saying one when he clearly said two. They even showed a replay of it. He then put up bass when Zach wasn’t ready for it and finally made a raw halibut. Ramsay had to take him in the back to have a word with him.

Zach made one raw and one dry beef wellington. He went to make more but the Blue were out. So he started making them which would take about twenty minutes. Ramsay, not having any of it, decided to take two extra wellingtons from the Red. This was rounded off when Zach couldn’t remember the order that Ramsay told him multiple times bad made overcooked lamb. Ramsay had enough and took over Zach’s station despite Zach pleading with him.

The Red’s problem’s started out with Amy not making a lobster tail due to Cyndi not communicating with her. This was followed by Cyndi making six portions of risotto when all Ramsay needed was three. Ja’Nel cut herself and when she came back she looked utterly lost. The best of the Red was Susan finally cooking a lamb properly, her flirting with Sisto and sisto offering to help the Red.

To nobody’s surprise, the Red won. They had to once again choose who would go the Blue. Ja’nel volunteers. Jon had to choose who would go up for elimination. Despite choosing Anthony, Ramsay wanted to see both Anthony and Zach. Anthony got the boot.

It’s becoming ever more apparent that this year’s Blue Team is the worst in “Hell’s Kitchen” history. There are two men and four women left. It’s obvious that a woman is going to win this year. Nedra was put on the Blue and got eliminated. Ja’Nel may suffer the same fate or, according to next episode’s preview, she’ll sabotage the Blue kitchen. Either way, the only Y chromosome that’ll stay in “Hell’s Kitchen” will belong to Ramsay.
