Eternal Warrior #1 Initial Thoughts: Vintage Valiant

Valiant Comics has released early scans of Greg Pak and Trevor Hairsine’s newest comic “Eternal Warrior #1” set to be released September 11 2013.

The story is about Gilad Anni-Padda, a warrior that has fought in many battles across the globe. This has given him the nickname “Eternal Warrior.” After years of fighting, he decides to go into seclusion. However, an old blood vendetta causes him to come out of seclusion.

The early scans, four covers and three comic pages, shows off Valiant’s style that many people have come to love. Brawny men drawn gritty and tons of blood going all over. The four covers show what appear to be Anni-Padda wearing four different outfits. The one that seems to work well is the one with him fighting a group of enemies and he is dressed as a barbarian type fighter. The one that just looks odd is him dressed as a samurai. It gives the appearance that the story is supposed to be a samurai drama.

The comic pages are all battle scenes. While no dialogue is written in these scenes, they do look like exciting and epic battle scenes.

The only bad thing about these scans is that they don’t tell what exactly the comic is about. They look nice and all but with no story all we have is nothing but some artist’s random sketches.

Whether “Eternal Warrior” will be interesting or not will have to wait until release. Until then, these scans only serve as ice candy for Valiant fans.
