With excellent promo and solid pace, the RAW after Summerslam was an intriguing one that sets the scene for the rest of the year. With John Cena out of action, stars the like of Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan, as well as new WWE Champion Randy Orton seem primed to carry the company in the ring and on the microphone.
Check out our weekly power rankings to see who else has stepped up their game following Summerslam.
5: Cody Rhodes: One of the best workers in the company already, Rhodes earned his second consecutive win over Damien Sandow this week on RAW. With the win, Rhodes is without a doubt due a title shot against Alberto Del Rio. Spicing up a potent offense with the Muscle Buster at Summerslam, Rhodes just needs some time on the microphone.
4: The Shield: After Dean Ambrose barely got past Rob Van Dam at Summerslam, the hounds of justice destroyed Daniel Bryan, former World Champion Dolph Ziggler and The Big Show this week. If that’s not making a statement, then what is?
3: The Prime Time Players: After Darren Young’s headline-garnering announcement, he and Titus O’Neil had a gouge win against a much more experienced team in Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger. The win definitely puts them in a position to challenge The Shield for the Tag Team titles.
2: Daniel Bryan: His work in the opening segment with Stephanie McMahon was stellar. In recent memory, there are few WWE superstars that have been this appreciated by the fans. Add in the fact that former WWE Champion put him over even more by admitting Bryan beat him clean and Stephanie McMahon’s B+ comments endeared him even more to the fans and Bryan is in a league of his own right now.
1: Randy Orton: He told us so, didn’t he? The new WWE Champion got a coronation from the King of Kings this week on RAW that essentially showed- and an RKO on Daniel Bryan later, confirmed to the world where The Viper’s allegiances are moving forward. His current feud with Bryan is going to be blockbuster in and out of the ring.
