After Matt Morgan was granted his release from TNA last month, a certain WWE superstar, one Bray Wyatt, professed his desire to see “The Blueprint” join his faction and become one of The Buzzards.
While he has the massive facial hair and size that the other members of the group possess, the even larger question here is, would this work and could it benefit Morgan’s career?
There’s no doubt that Morgan would add more size, strength and speed to a group with a ton of it. His time in TNA also proved he’s better on the microphone than most give him credit for. However, the WWE is far more organized than the mess TNA is creatively. Could Morgan “become” a Buzzard? Would he be believable?
From his Direct Auto commercials and tenure in TNA, you’d be forced to think no. Though he could play a silent wrecking machine, it’s doubtful he’d be able to add the layer of depth Luke Harper and Erick Rowan have given their on-air personas. It’s just not in Morgan’s toolbox. Simply put, a guy like Morgan would make a killing in Japan as a huge man with a bad attitude, much like Bill Goldberg, Tensai, Brock Lesnar, Dr. Death Steve Williams and over a dozen other tough guys over the years. At this point in his career, that may be the best thing for him.
A role in the Wyatt Family would add a level of credibility in the stable, but would do nothing to help Morgan moving forward. What Morgan really needs a promoter to have faith in him and to give him the push he deserved three years ago. A spot in a young stable does zilch for him; it would almost be considered a step backwards for him.
At the same time, the move could get him back to the WWE. Does he ride out the angle and hope for sunny days moving forward? Or does he ride the indie scene or Mexico or Japan and see where that takes him? Any way you look at it, Morgan has plenty of decisions to make. Decisions that can and will affect the rest of his career.
