The Walking Dead Coverage: Who’s Sick

Episode Commentary: “Indifference”

Several plot lines were developed in this latest episode of “The Walking Dead” that has this season going in an interesting direction. While the previous episodes mostly took place back at the prison, “Indifference” felt like an adventure from hell in an exciting, but thrilling way. As Michonne, Daryl, Tyrese, and Bob are on their own getaway to find medication for the flu outbreak, Rick and Carol also go out on a run and run into new faces in the process.

Throughout this episode, decisions are made that can impact the group, and there are several moments that will have jump out of your seat in fear.

Like in the previous episodes, the flu becomes more contagious and we find out an important detail that can impact the living. We find out interesting details regarding characters such as Michonne and Bob. It was revealed that Michonne did not only go out on her horse to look for crops, she also went to go look for our old pal “The Governor,” who at any moment can show up and wreak havoc on the group and anyone who gets in his way. Bob reveals his alcoholism to Daryl and almost puts the group in danger because of it.

Rick and Carol have an interesting conversation regarding Sophia and how Carol’s attitude is to forget and move on. It is clear that Carol has become a sociopath. The interesting aspect of this situation is that Carol, along with her psychotic ways, has become a better leader than Rick. While Rick has taken the conservative approach by taking a step back, he has not made any decision in a while, until now. The turning point of this episode which can have a major impact on the season is Rick’s decision to ban Carol from the prison and group. What makes this situation a shock to the fans is that it was unexpected. It begs the question on how and if Rick will tell the group, and more importantly how will they respond?

The different scenarios that this season presents to us thus far are quite thrilling and keep the fans interested more so than previous seasons. Other than how the group back at the prison will react to the news about Carol is interesting all by itself, but also how will Tyrese react if he finds out what Carol did to Karen will cause massive drama as well. Aside from the questions regarding the characters in play, the anticipation quietly surrounds the whereabouts of the Governor. Where is the one eyed bandit and when will he show up? When that situation occurs it should result in a brutal war and get fans excited.

Overall, this episode was one of the best episodes of the entire series because it explored situations from the characters past and gave the audience an exciting anticipation that remains to be seen the rest of this season.
