Review Fix Exclusive: Stereo Jane’s Sydney Schmier Talks About the Band’s Upcoming Album

Review Fix chats with Stereo Jane’s Sydney Schmier, who discusses her vocal influences, what it’s like to be in a band with her twin sister Mia and where she hopes the band will be a year from now. With a unique song and an album on the way, the Motown-inspired group has the attention of our ears.

Review Fix: Who are your vocal inspirations?

Sydney Schmier: Aretha Franklin, Jessie J and Hayley Williams. The all have amazing voices and their songs are great.

Review Fix: How important is Motown to your sound?

Schmier: Very important. We come from Motown and we have to incorporate it in our music no matter what! We actually have a few songs that are Motown based.

Review Fix: What’s it like to be in a band with your sister?

Schmier: Some days it can be a little frustrating. But all sisters have their fair share when it comes to the fighting. We love each other and when we start playing it’s all fun from then on.

Review Fix: “Sing It” is a great song. How was it written?

Schmier: I wrote it in Atlanta in 8th grade. I was being bullied at the time for singing and It was the perfect time for me to get my feelings on paper and make a great song from it.

Review Fix: What was the filming of the video like?

Schmier: Absolutely amazing. The makeup, cameras, and crew were all so cool. I never imagined anything like it! I appreciate everything Exxodus has done for us and I’m so grateful to have them as a part of the Stereo Jane movement.

Review Fix: What should people expect from your debut album?

Schmier: Catchy songs, emotion, and a whole lot of inspiration.

Review Fix: What are the band’s goals?

Schmier: All of us want so badly to go on tour. Performing live is our favorite part of what we do! I love the idea of traveling on the road going from place to place.

Review Fix: Where do you guys want to be next year at this time?

Schmier: Making our next album and touring. I can’t wait to see where we end up.
