Review Fix Exclusive: Nintendo Talks Relationship with SEGA

Review Fix chats with vice president of licensing for Nintendo, Steve Singer about the company’s growing relationship with SEGA and the recently revealed Sonic Boom video game.

Review Fix: What has it been like working with SEGA?

Steve Singer: SEGA’s been a really good partner with Nintendo for a long time. We’ve had a tremendous amount of success in working with them in the past with all the Olympic games, you know, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics and the last iteration of Sonic Lost World. Both being Japanese companies, both having iconic characters, there’s a lot of similarities between our organizations so we work really well together.

Review Fix: And this game, Sonic Boom will be the last of your three-game partnership with SEGA, can we expect anything like this again in the future? Was this good for you?

SS: It’s the last in this current agreement but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other opportunities in the future. Like I said, they’ve been a good partner, we’ve always worked well together and I think there’s always good things that can come from people that have good relationships.

Review Fix: Are you proud of how far you guys have come working together?

SS: You know what? If you look at the history, at one point we were competitors and now we’re very close partners. So I think there’s a lot of pride in both organizations based on how this partnership has initiated and gone on for as long as it has.

Sonic Boom will release sometime this year for Wii U and 3DS, along with a Sonic Boom CG animated television series and new line of Sonic Boom toys.
