NXT Coverage: Kidd-Powered

To say there’s a lot going in right now in NXT would be an understatement. Even without NXT Champion Adrian Neville, Adam Rose and Corey Graves on the card, there was plenty to watch and be entertained by.

As NXT continues to build drama for its next event, Payback, fans were given a five match card this week that begins to put the finishing touches on the show’s card. With Tyson Kidd and Charlotte Flair beginning to separate themselves from other singles competitors, it’ll be interesting to see how well Neville can perform against a seasoned vet in Kidd and who Flair will face in the finals of the NXT Women’s Title tournament.

A rare promo from The Ascension was a cool moment as well. Who can end the reign of that destructive tag team?

Matches:

NXT Tag team Champions Viktor and Konnor vs. Buddy Murphy and Elias Sampson: A joke of a match that saw Murphy get the Call of Man after a few minutes. Sampson was barely in the match. After the match El Local and Kalisto issued a challenge to the champs. Finally.

NXT Women’s Title Tournament: Charlotte Flair w/Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss: Although Bliss fought hard, Flair dominated with strikes and submissions before nailing her Flipping, Sitting Cutter for the win.

Mojo Rawley vs. Aiden English: Rawley has three moves and he used all of them in a win over English. Although English held the match together with a nice DDT and Neckbreaker, Rawley got the win with the Hyper Drive.

Colin Cassidy vs. Angelo Dawkins: Cassidy dominated away from a few Dawkins strikes. The win came with a variation of the sitting Urinage, extremely similar to Mason Ryan’s original finisher in his first run in the WWE.

NXT #1 Contender Match: Tyson Kidd vs. Tyler Breeze vs. Sami Zayn: All three competitors showed something as they unleashed signature offense and strikes throughout. breeze was in the thick of the match, selling for Zayn and Kidd at whim. An opportunistic Kidd got the win with the top rope Elbow after a Zayn miscue ended up costing him the match.
