TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: Old Faces Set Up New Matchups

The returns of Matt Hardy and Low Ki, the in-ring reformation of Team 3D and an appearance by The Great Muta, as well as surprise appearances from Ezekiel Jacksonand Gene Snitsky on this past week’s TNA Impact may make a casual fan think that TNA has its mind on the past, but don’t let that fool you.

These blasts from the past rounded out a show that was all about TNA’s future.

Add in the debut of King Mo and a huge card and it’s easy to think TNA is ready to turn a corner.

But before we get excited, again, we’ll just take this episode for what it was. Damn good.

Matches:

Falls Count Anywhere: Bobby Roode vs. MVP: After he originally claimed he was injured, MVP put on quite a show with Roode in Impact’s opening bout, battling all over the Manhattan Center. After battling all over the ring, MVP brought Roode back into the ring and worked him over with a steel chair. But after MVP missed his Yakuza Kick, Roode used the chair as well before he won with his Sharpshooter variation.

Zema Ion w/Robbie E. and Jessie Godderz vs. Low Ki: This match was all Ki, who demolished Ion with strikes throughout the match and eventually got the win with the Fisherman Driver.

Bram and Magnus vs. Gunner and Mr. Anderson: Magnus got the win with the SpineShaker Urinage, but Sam Shaw helped Gunner avoid a beatdown with a wrench from Bram after the bell. An appearance from Abyss after the bell added to the intrigue as “The Monster” attacked Bram.

Knockout Champion Gail Kim vs. Taryn Terrell: A solid match until Angelina Love and Velvet Sky hit the ring and hit their finishers on both Kim and Terrell.

The Great Muta vs. Robbie E.: Awesome to see Muta in action and in under a minute, he went through his signature offense- The Mist, Dragonscrew, Corkscrew Elbow and the Shining Wizard for the win. After the match, James Storm hit the ring and spit beer in Muta’s face before Senada made the save and eventually turned on Muta.

NYC Street Fight Bully Ray and Devon and Tommy Dreamer vs. Rockstar Spud, Rhino and Ethan Carter III: Old-school hardcore wrestling, this was a blast from the past until King mo’s interference allowed Carter to hit the One Percenter on Dreamer for the win.
