TNA Impact Coverage: Sky Fired, Aries Feasts

The Feast or Fired episode of Impact Wrestling was a solid one thanks to a beefy card and plenty of storyline development.

It’s funny how even the squashes this week made sense, as Khoya’s debut win over Tigre Uno was more than filler and cemented another player in The Revolution.

Although not flashy, the solid wrestling action, bearable promo and nifty ending, which included Rockstar Spud earning an X-Division title shot, Magnus getting a Tag Team title shot, Austin Aries earning a World Heavyweight title shot and Velvet Sky getting fired- ultimately made for another good show.

Matches:

Feast or Fired: Gunner vs. Davey Richards vs. Eddie Edwards vs. Bram vs. Sam Shaw vs. Magnus vs. Austin Aries vs. Crazy Steve vs. Rockstar Spud vs. Zema Ion vs. Jessie Godderz and Robbie E. w/Velvet Sky and Angelina Love: Robbie E. quickly got the #2 briefcase and took Sky with him, while Crazy Steve followed. Soon after, the action spilled to the outside and Spud used a groggy Shaw as a stepping stool to capture the #4 briefcase. With the action spilling to the outside, Aries had a decision to make- take out the competition with a Suicide Dive or grab a case. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived naturally grabbed the #1 case. With just one more case to go, the action got even more frenetic, but it was Magnus, who secured the number #3 briefcase following a top rope Powerbomb on Gunner.

Kenny King w/MVP and Samoa Joe and Low Ki vs. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley: Naturally Lashley was in control thanks to his power, but King was solid and used his speed to stay in the match longer than expected. However after LAshley hit the Spear, the rest of the Beat Down Clan beat on Lashley to get the match thrown out.

Gail Kim vs. Havoc: Kim tried her hardest to put the plodding Havoc over and at the same time, put together a nice slew of offense. Kim eventually got the win after Havoc took out the ref. After the bell, Havoc hit an Electric Chair Drop on Kim on the outside that sent the much smaller Kim’s face into the ring bell. Ding ding. Soon enough, Kong was in the ring. A Clothesline later and Havoc was out of the ring.

Tigre Uno vs. Khoya w/ TNA Tag Team Champion James Storm and Abyss and Manik and The Great Sanada: Uno hit a few moves, but Khoya got the quick win with the Sky High.

Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode vs. X-Division Champion Low Ki and Eric Young: After Angle hit the Olympic Slam on Ki, it looked like the match was over, but Samoa Joe and MVP hit the ring and took Roode away from the action. Essentially a two-on-one at that point, Young hit Angle with a chair behind the ref’s back, allowing Ki to pick up the scraps and win the match.

Ethan Carter III w/Tyrus vs. Jeremy Borash w/ Rockstar Spud: Borash actually managed to get some strikes in the early going of the match, but ECIII quickly fought back and then spit in Spud’s face and Tyrus finished him off before the match got thrown out. Mark Andrews, the British Bootcamp winner, then helped Spud and hit a nice Shooting Star Press on Tyrus on the outside.

James Storm vs. Matt Hardy: A decent match that had plenty of back and forth action. Storm looked like he was ready to get the win, but Hardy countered the Eye of the Storm into a Rollup for the win. After the match, Abyss attacked Hardy, allowing Storm to hit the Last Call Super Kick. Abyss then took out Janice, but Jeff Hardy hit the ring with a chair and dropped Abyss with the Twist of Hate.
