Although the scene is set for the Ring of Honor Title vs. Title match at Best in the World, what about the other matches on the card? With little in terms of context, this past week’s Ring of Honor didn’t do enough to entice the event.
Check out this week’s Ring of Honor Power Rankings to see who’s going into best in the world with a little-added momentum.
Honorable Mention: Cedric Alexander: The former rookie star is now a heel, but the kind that you can associate with. Doing whatever he has to in order to secure a win, Alexander knows it’s do or die time. His win over Moose wasn’t pretty, but it ended one of the most important undefeated streaks in recent Ring of Honor history.
5: War Machine: If you’ve never seen these guys before, imagine a combination of The Ascension and Vikings. While their match against Colby Corino wasn’t exactly supposed to show them off in terms of selling, they are a powerhouse team with a great finisher and a cool t-shirt. At this level, can you really ask for more?
4: Matt Sydal: Fans of his work in TNA and WWE will be happy to know that Sydal is still just as amazing a performer as he ever was. In a mentoring role of ACH, another awesome acrobatic performer, it’s only a matter of time before they get in the middle of a run for Tag Team gold, or face off with each other in order for both of them to move up the card.
3: Hiroshi Tanahashi: Real wrestling fans know who this guy is, as his matches with AJ Styles in TNA were always solid. With the help of Naito, the duo took out ACH and Sydal on this week’s show. With a great look and plenty of polish, there’s a reason why he’s one of the top stars in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
2: Jay Lethal: The reigning ROH TV Champion is ready to prove what he’s been saying all along, that the ROH TV Title means just as much as the ROH Championship. Arguably the most polished worker in Ring of Honor, Briscoe is going to have his hands full with Jay Briscoe at Best in the World.
1: Jay Briscoe: The Ring of Honor Champion is done with talking and with the contract signed, he won’t have to anymore. Jay Lethal is in for a tough match, make no mistake.
