Three fantastic matches and the return of The Undertaker ensured Battleground wasn’t a waste of time.
Check out our WWE Battleground Power Rankings to see who left the event in the best situation to strike at Summerslam.
Don’t Forget the Ladies: For the first time, in a long time, the Divas in the WWE matter. Lets hope it stays that way for a while. Charlotte Flair’s win against Sasha Banks and Brie Bella definitely signals the beginning of a beautiful new era in women’s wrestling in the WWE.
Honorable Mention: Randy Orton: In a solid opening match, in front of his hometown crowd, Orton beat the reigning King of the Ring Sheamus in typical Orton fashion, with an RKO out of nowhere. Still one of the most beloved faces in the WWE, Orton is always a whisker away from challenging for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
5: The Prime Time Players: WWE Tag Team Champions Darren Young and Tutus O’Neil continue to grow as a tag team with an enjoyable win over The New Day. While they still need a Double-Team finish and could use more promo time, with injuries to Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, as well as Tyson Kidd and The Usos, they’re simply the best the promotion has right now in the division.
4: Bray Wyatt: His win over Roman Reigns is one of the biggest of his career and thanks to the help of the returning Luke Harper, Wyatt can continue to shoot epic promo and matter. Now with Reigns out of the way, who does Wyatt sets his sights on next?
3: John Cena: In probably his best match in years, Cena took out Kevin Owens to retain the United States title. With Owens finally out of his hair, what’s next for Cena?
2: Brock Lesnar: He had the WWE World Heavyweight Championship all but around his waist until The Undertaker spoiled the fun. Summerslam just got a lot cooler.
1: The Undertaker: His return definitely shakes things up. With Brock Lesnar getting screwed out of another shot at the WWE World Heavyweight title, except the Deadman to have to pay for his sins against “The Beast.â€
