Examiner Exclusive: Inside ‘Super Arc Light’

National Video Games Examiner Patrick Hickey Jr. chats with Omar Khan, co-founder & managing director of No Code Studio, who discusses the nifty and addictive ’Super Arc Light’ on the iOS.

Patrick Hickey Jr.: What was the development cycle of Super Arc Light like?

Omar Khan: The project was started a year ago, and was essentially modified from another game we were working on at the time. Development was carried out on a part-time basis over this time and ramped up 3 months prior to release. We spent a lot of time playing the game and demoing it at live events to get feedback, which made it quite an interesting title to develop.

Hickey Jr.: What games did you play as a kid? How did they inspire this one?


Khan: A wide range of games dating back to such devices as the ZX Spectrum, Amiga, and Atari ST.  However, this game owes much to the simple classic Space Invaders where you have to survive against swarms of enemies. The pick up and play nature of games is important to us, and the hardcore challenge is quite a retro thing these days. What’s better than a simple score chaser that’s also incredibly addictive?
