Hell’s Kitchen Coverage: The Final Six

The chefs battle it out for black jackets with their loved one watching on in an all-new episode of “Hell’s Kitchen.” The end is almost here and this is the last episode that there will be two teams this season.

It’s about this time that the chefs are reunited with their families. This season, it was done in a unique way. The family members entered the dorms and woke each chef up. This was preferable to the usual Ramsay saying “your family members are here.”

One other thing that made this reunion memorable was that in the day’s challenge was that each chef had to teach their family member how to cook Ramsay’s branzino dish. The catch was each chef had to be in a straitjacket. If that isn’t the best summation of this series, nothing else is.

The only thing to note here is that Jared’s mother cut herself, which caused her dish to not have vegetables. In the end, Dannie’s and Kristin’s dishes were best, buy Kristin’s had the edge, giving the Red the win. Their reward was a day at the spa. That part was boring because for the Blue it was cleaning day. Normally, that would be interesting, but nothing happens. Seeing chefs gag at how dirty the dorms are being the best part of cleaning day.

Moving on, it was time for dinner service. This episode had chef’s tables. In the Red it was rapper Lil Jon and in the Blue it was dog psychologist Cesar Millan.

The only real problem the Red encountered was Kristin made two orders of scallops: one with four and one with five. That’s a basic mistake. Besides that, all three members got black jackets.

The Blue weren’t so lucky. Jared started with putting too much salt in a carbonara. Jarred would continue his streak by later bringing up mashed potatoes with a hair in it. There’s no way it was Jared’s, so he blamed Manda. Dannie would then bring up an NY strip that was so raw it was blue and Manda would bring up burned snapper. The funny part was Manda asking “what’s burnt?” and Ramsay taking her glasses off and putting them on. You have to love it when Ramsay does that to glasses wearing chefs. Dannie’s meat woes continued when she made an undercooked Wellington.

Instead of just the Blue deciding who would go up, all the chefs had to choose two for elimination. They chose Manda and Dannie with Dannie getting eliminated.

Even with the final six, it’s still too close to call who’ll win. Ariel, Kristin and Ashley are all tough chefs. Even Manda has improved. This year’s winner will definitely be a woman because Jared just doesn’t have what it takes.
