Review Fix chats with Brutal Harmony’s Justin Ruesch, who lets us know how the band got together, their creative process and goals for the future.
Review Fix: How did the band get together?
Justin Ruesch: We were all friends and musicians in other bands. We decided to jam around one day and a song came out. Eventually, we decided that Brutal Harmony should be the only band because we just loved everything that was coming out.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Ruesch: We usually start with the guitar. Me (guitarist) and the drummer have been playing together for 11 years in various bands so generally, everything will be built off of what me and him do. Not all the time though. Its kind of a melting pot of ideas honestly.Â
Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?
Ruesch: The first song we wrote, “Fear” would probably be the standout so far. It kick started this whole project and we believe all the elements we wanted for the sound of Brutal Harmony are represented quite well in that one. It was a written in a free jam within an hour. It just kind of wrote itself in a way.
Review Fix: What are your goals for 2016?
Ruesch: Were currently recording our full-length debut to follow up the single/video release of Fear, so completing that is definitely one. After that it’s touring, touring, touring.
Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?
Ruesch: We are doing what we love and we believe that really shines through in this particular band. Hopefully people will hear and feel that when they listen and come along for the ride.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Ruesch: Bringing Brutal Harmony to every corner of the United States and then the rest of the world.
