Review Fix chats with Deathinition’s Igor Kościelniak, who discussed the band’s origin, goals and creative process.
Review Fix: How did you guys get together?
Igor Kościelniak: ’Twas kinda hard, I met Adi, the vocalist, on the web, but then we realized we are studying together on our university. Maciej, our guitarist, was taken from another local band. Witek our drummer, was a friend of friends, we met several times, but he lives far away my hometown, so we have to manage how to do rehearsals, eventually we made it up and he joins the band. Mi≥osz, our bass player used to be our fan, and guitarist, so he eventually ended up in our lineup as a bass player.
Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?
Kościelniak: The most common situation is when I or Maciej send the file with few tracks written on midi, and after some corrections we are all learn it and try playing it on one of our rehearsals.
Review Fix: What do you think makes this bad special?
Kościelniak: A lot of musical influences and experience gain on gigs. Nothing special maybe, but I hope our music will speak for itself.
Review Fix: How would you describe your style?
KoÅ›cielniak: It’s a kinda combination of late ’80/beggining of ’90 thrash metal with some prog and technical death metal things. We are trying to put so much musically as we can.
Review Fix: What are your goals for this album?
Kościelniak: Make it sound consistent, confident, without fills and both catchy and complex at the same time.
Review Fix: What’s the standout song? Is there a story behind it?
KoÅ›cielniak: It’s really hard to say. Each song has its flashlight. One has great lyrics, other have brilliant solos, then next one is full of master riff works, and another brings well-done composition. I hope to give you a chance to pick up one soon.
Review Fix: What’s next?
Kościelniak: Touring. Hope to meet more people and see new places. Hope to gain new fans, and play better shows.
