Review Fix Exclusive: Regicide’s Issac Trujillo Talks Goals And More

Review Fix chats with Issac Trujillo of Regicide, who discusses the band’s origin, creative process and goals for the future, following their latest album, “Fall of an Empire”.

Review Fix: How did you guys get together?

Issac Trujillo: Regicide met and formed in Las Cruces, NM in 2006. Issac and Dom were at a party and met Brack while discussing similar tastes in music. They decided to meet up and jam some Metallica tunes. Andrew joined up after a few other bassists couldn’t quite fit and after a few sessions, we started writing original tunes and finished our first song together as a band, “John the Baptist”. Unfortunately Andrew stepped out this past year, as he is living in the Northwestern US now. We have a new bass man and are ready to entertain the metal heads!

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Trujillo: Typically the band will jam out some ideas until we get a basic song structure. From there we will start molding the tune to fit whatever idea we have for that specific tune. Usually lyrics come last; it just depends on what we are trying to do to a song. Usually we finish a song, play it live a couple times then go in and revisit the song before we finish it.

Review Fix: What do you think makes this band special?

Trujillo: We are all friends and the band is more than just four guys playing music, we are a brotherhood who not only enjoys the music we create, but we can sit and enjoy just rehearsing together. Because of this, we feel like we can really tap into a connected psyche and create music that is enjoyable. If the listener really sits and listens to our music, they can hear how well we play off each other.

Review Fix: How would you describe your style?

Trujillo: We are a mix of old and new, we like to think of ourselves as a New Wave of American Thrash Metal.

Review Fix: What are your goals for this album?

Trujillo: We are almost a year since the release of our latest CD “Fall of an Empire.” Currently we are working on an EP tentatively set to be released late summer 2016. No title yet, but we have one song done, two in the oven, and we will round it out with another later this month.

Review Fix:What’s the standout song? Is there a story behind it?

Trujillo: We all seem to really like Injustice, in fact it is the song we made a music video. It’s a song about the political system in the U.S. and (especially this year) how the left and right are really just the two sides of the same coin.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Trujillo: We are working on a new EP and hopefully a fall tour of the west-coast USA. We want to bring Regicide Thrash Metal to the masses.
