THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT SET TO UNLEASH WHITE BEAR ON THE U.S.

Some music is too powerful to ignore. For proof, please meet WHITE BEAR, the raucous new rock ‘n roll animal from THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT (vocalist Phil Campbell, bassist Nick Fyffe, guitarists Paul Sayer and Matt White, drummer Damon Wilson). The band’s second album, WHITE BEAR is set for release July 15th, 2016 via Fantasy Records. The album pre-order and instant grat download of the title track will be available beginning Friday, May 6th. A stream of the song, “White Bear,” can be heard now on NewNoiseMagazine.com.

WHITE BEAR is the highly anticipated follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, which spawned the anthemic hit single, “Take It Back.” Fueled by their inclusion in iHeartRadio’s ‘On The Verge’ developing artist program, the song quickly reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart last spring. Additionally, the popular U.K. band was tapped by The Rolling Stones to be the opening act at their show in Orlando, FL on June 12, 2015 at the Orlando Citrus Bowl. They had previously opened for The Rolling Stones in 2014 in Berlin, Vienna, Zurich and Dusseldorf.

The album’s stunning cover image of a girl and a bear, interlaid and overlapping in magical realism, is the creation of celebrated rock n’ roll photographer and director of the award-winning Patti Smith documentary Dream of Life, Steven Sebring. “I had met Steven a few years ago,” explains Nick. “He was making a video for a mutual friend whose band I was in at the time. We remained in touch and when passing through New York last year, Steven graciously agreed to take some photographs of the band. We visited his studio where we were introduced to his revolution system and invited to enter the “fourth dimension”. Steven came to the show later that evening and when hanging out afterwards, we started to chat about the White Bear album and how we could involve him. He shot the cover artwork a few weeks later and delivered an image that exceeded our expectations. The idea of doing the ‘White Bear’ video using the Revolution system was an exciting prospect and the results are stunning. Our connection with Steven has given us the opportunity to make a visually beautiful piece of work using techniques that haven’t been seen before.”

The cover photo concept originated with a line from Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Winter Notes on Summer Impressions: ‘Try to pose for yourself this task: not to think of a polar bear, and you will see that the cursed thing will come to mind every minute.’” And so is it with WHITE BEAR the album: It’s simply too strong to ignore.

WHITE BEAR has already garnered rave reviews in the U.K.:

“On a basic gut-punching level they deliver with inarguable aplomb” – MOJO

“This second album is laden with big, chunky riff s and swaggering anthems tailor-made for waving scarves and throwing beer” – The Guardian

“There’s a timeless rock’n’roll spirit about The Temperance Movement…This is classic arena rock reborn…The Temperance Movement do what they do with a rare and exquisite panache” – Classic Rock

“Rock’s alive and well right here, thanks.” – Kerrang!

In touring news, THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT will be flying back to the U.S. for this year’s Ride Festival in Telluride, Colorado, where they will join Pearl Jam, Cage The Elephant and 10,000 rock fans for a weekend of mile high antics before heading off for a headlining tour that announces the arrival of WHITE BEAR. Further dates for the fall will be announced soon.

“A lot of times the first half of a gig is warming the crowd up and getting them on your side but those gigs in the States, even though we were still relatively unknown there, it felt like the crowd was with us from the first note,” said Phil Campbell. “We’re very excited to play the new stuff for people. It’s a great moment for us.”
