WWE Cruiserweight Classic Coverage: Magic

On any other show, the first match of this week’s episode of the Cruiserweight Classic would have been an amazing main event, but the Cedric Alexander/Kota Ibushi war was one of the best matches of the year.

If anyone wondered how the WWE was going to top last week’s epic between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, that notion is a dead one.

If you needed any proof that this show is the best on the WWE Network, the proof is here.

Matches:

Gran Metallik vs. Tajiri: Between Metallic constantly spring boarding and Tajiri’s kicks and submissions, this was like poetry. Although this only lasted about 15 minutes, make no mistake, there was plenty of offense. In spite of a ton of near-falls and counters, Metallic got the win with the Fireman’s Screwdriver after he escaped a near-deadly Tajiri submission.

Kota Ibushi vs. Cedric Alexander: The best match of the tournament thus far, Alexander gave Ibushi everything he had, nearly beating the Golden Star with a Brainbuster. The crowd never wanted the match to end, but after a German Suplex and a Kick, Ibushi finished off Alexander with a wonderful Golden Star Powerbomb.

After the match, Alexander got chants galore, one of them, “Please Sign Cedric.” Soon enough, Triple H came out and shook Alexander’s hand and brought him to the back to end the show.
