WWE RAW Coverage: Roman Gets Decimated, Rollins Makes Statement

Despite a massive card, this week’s RAW did nothing to make the case for anyone to watch RAW’s upcoming Clash of Champions event.

Sure, there’s drama in every title division and there’s a host of new faces getting opportunities, but it’s just not sexy. With a plodding pace and lack of memorable moments, this was definitely a RAW you could have skipped.

Matches:

Winner Faces Charlotte For RAW Women’s Championship at Night of Champions: Dana Brooke vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks: Plenty of near-falls as Brooke, Banks and Bayley all had spots and moments. From the Tower of Doom and plenty of close calls, this was a fun one that rivaled Women’s Match last night at Smackdowns PPV. Although there;s wasn’t as many high-flying antics, the submission spots and strikes made for a wild match. Banks ended up with the win after Bayley broke up the Bank Statement on Brooke and Banks Rolled up Bayley after she nailed Brooke with the Bayley-To-Belly.

Bo Dallas vs. Brandon Scott: Another quick win with the Roll of the Dice.

Best of Seven: Sheamus (3-1) vs. Cesaro (1-3): An interesting match as Cesaro used the ropes for leverage to steal the win.

Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox: These two beat the holy hell out of one another as Jax Speared Fox through the barricade to throw the match out.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. WWE Tag Team Champions Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston w/ Big E. Langston: Anderson and Gallows decimated Kingston for most of the match but Woods was able to get the hot tag and even things up for a bit with strikes and his second rope Springboard DDT. Woods nearly won with the Top Rope Elbow, but Gallows broke it up. A Magic Killer later and Gallows and Anderson were victorious.

Jinder Mahal vs. Jack Swagger: Did anyone care about this match? Mahal got the win after he countered the Swagger Bomb with his knees and won with a sloppy-looking Neckbreaker.

Epic w/Primo vs. Enzo Amore w/Colin Cassady: Thanks to help from Primo, Epico stole a win over Amore.

WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns:A boring match early on that played more to Reigns strengths as Owens took the beating in the ring before he slammed Reigns’ face against turnbuckle post on the outside. With the advantage, Owens pandered to the crowd, but Seth Rollins nailed Owens from behind to give the WWE Universal Champion the DQ victory. Soon enough, RAW GM Mick Foley called to have the match restarted. It was here that Reigns got back in the match with strikes, but Owens hit a Top Rope Fisherman Suplex variation and a Frog Splash to nearly win and make things interesting. But after he missed the Cannonball, Reigns hit the Superman Punch for a near-fall of his own and kept the pressure on with the Drive-By. Once back in the ring, Owens hit a Superkick and a pair of Cannonballs, but Reigns hit the Sit-Out Powerbomb for a near-fall. With Owens on the ropes, Rusev interfered and even though Reigns took him out with a Superman Punch, Owens got the win with the Pop-Up Powerbomb. After the match, Rusev took out Reigns with the Standing Side Kick and The Accolade.
