Review Fix: What inspired the creation of this product?

Justin Kalvitz: Boogie Board set out to create a flexible system that allowed kids to practice writing, draw, doodle and learn and the Magic Sketch was born.  This idea was developed by combining innovations that came together to create a fun, creative, flexible platform.  This platform is the first ever clear LCD screen utilizing multi-color, vibrant rainbow writing.  The first of its kind cover became a perfect reversible piece to slide and hold the templates while kids were playing yet also flip over to protect the drawing while in a back pack.

Review Fix: Who will enjoy it the most?

Kalvitz: Magic Sketch is designed for kids of all ages.  It is perfect for young kids developing fine motor skills or learning to write up to tweens looking to draw, doodle and express their creativity.  We even catch many adults tracing, drawing and playing with the system as we see the adult coloring book trend growing.  It’s just plain fun to play with.

Review Fix: What comes with the standard set?

Kalvitz: A protective cover that doubles as a template holder, Magic Sketch liquid crystal see through, multi-color writing screen, Fine tip writing stylus, 3 unique texture tools with 6 different drawing tips, 18 templates featuring learning, drawing and game designs

Review Fix: Is there any way for people to save their drawings and transfer them to the computer?

Kalvitz: There will be a free app that is specially designed to scan the surface of the Magic Sketch and only pick up on the drawing.  The app creates a vector format PDF that can be saved, edited and shared instantly.

Review Fix: What’s your favorite element of the Magic Sketch?

Kalvitz: The flexibility of Magic Sketch is just so amazing.  When you write on it for the first time and see all of the color it really makes you stop and think how this is really possible.  It is as close to writing with pen on paper as you can get, it just feels natural.  When you start playing with all the templates and putting the clear screen over different things to trace you feel like there is endless fun.  Even kids we tested it with said it made learning more fun and parents could not believe how durable it was.

Review Fix: Bottom line, why should someone buy it?

Kalvitz: If you are working on homework, learning to write, want to express your creative energy or are waiting for food in a restaurant, Magic Sketch can satisfy and create fun for most everyone.  No worries about spending hundreds of dollars on a tablet that can break or spending too much time with “tech” staring at a screen, young kids, tweens or adults find this old school writing screen a can’t live without new product.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Kalvitz: Boogie Board continues to drive innovation and new applications.  New templates for increased learning and fun, new stylus designs and even increased flexibility with the screen technologies are on the horizon. While so much of the world have phones, tablets and computers human nature is still to write with pen on paper.  Boogie Board eWriters are a cost effective, environmentally friendly way to capture that thousand year old ingrained need with a new, modern technology.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Kalvitz: Other features that tested well among moms and kids were, a replaceable battery that last approximately seven years, water resistant and durable construction for kids tough, on the go performance and an available deluxe kit that features over 60 added templates, design rollers and texture stampers.
