With just a few weeks before Fastlane, the RAW creative team put together a decent show that began to set the table for the event. However, away from some nice storytelling between Akira Tozawa and Brian Kendrick and dominance from Roman Reigns, the mid-card needs fortification. Kevin Owens and Bayley have done an excellent job leading their title divisions and it’s because of that this week’s RAW was a watchable one.
Matches:
#1 Contender’s Match for RAW Tag Team Titles: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. Sheamus and Cesaro: Fun opener, with plenty of back and forth that saw Cassady get the win over Cesaro with the East River Plunge. After the match Amore talked smack, but Sheamus took him out with a Brogue Kick.
Brian Kendrick vs. Akira Tozawa: The match never started as Kendrick took out Tozawa before the bell and locked on the Bully Choke before exiting the ring.
WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows vs. Roman Reigns: This one got thrown out after Reigns attacked Anderson and Gallows with a chair and hit a beautiful mid-air Spear.
Jinder Mahal and Rusev w/Lana vs. The New Day: Kofi Kingston and Big E. Langston w/Xavier Woods: A waste of time as Kingston and Langston made quick work of Mahal and Rusev, hitting the Midnight Hour and destroying Lana’s iPad.
Sara Pierce vs. Nia Jax: A squash as Jax won with the Samoan Drop.
Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks: Flair dominated, but things fell apart when Dana Brooke hit the ring and Bayley helped out her friend. A few seconds later, Banks hit the Backstabber and finished off Flair with the Bank Statement.
WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn: Samoa Joe attacked Zayn before the match and Zayn was destroyed by Owens, who won with the Pop-Up Powerbomb.
The Big Show vs. Braun Strowman: Show hit the KO Punch and Chokeslam on Strowman, but couldn’t put him away. Show fought back and kicked out of a Running Powerslam. However, Strowman hit the maneuver again to get the win. Soon enough, Roman Reigns hit the ring and the two fought to end the show, with Strowman nailing Reigns with the Powerslam as well.
