GFW Impact Coverage: Drake Retains, Valkyrie Debuts

More new faces set the scene a solid episode of Impact that will only get better with a pair of title matches next week in Mexico. Although it still has a long way to go, GFW is hitting a stride thanks to respectable in-ring action and a nice assortment of faces.

They also get bonus points for mentioning the Sexy Star/Rosemary incident.

Matches:

Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley vs. X-Division Champion Sonjay Dutt and Petey Williams: A fun encounter, but the storytelling was lacking. Regardless it was awesome to see Williams set up the Dust Splash for the win with the Canadian Destroyer.

GFW Tag Team Champions LAX: Ortiz & Santana w/ Konnan and Diamante vs. John Boland and Zachary Wentz: This was a squash that saw the Champions retain with the Street Sweeper. After the match, oVe hit the ring and demand a title shot, which they got.

GFW Knockouts Champion Sienna and Taryn Terrell w/KM vs. Gail Kim and Allie w/ Braxton Sutter: Thanks to interference from KM, Allie got Rolled Up by Sienna. After the match, Rosemary hit the ring to save Allie and Kim, but the debuting Taya Valkyrie hit the ring and nailed Rosemary with the Sit-Out Straight Jacket Slam.

GFW Champion Eli Drake w/Chris Adonis vs. Many Sydal: Lots of back and forth, but Adonis set up the referee which set up a Drake shot with the title on Sydal, which he followed up with the Gravy Train for the win.
