Review Fix Exclusive: Ronnie Rowe Jr. Talks Star Trek Discovery And More

Review Fix chats with actor Ronnie Rowe Jr.who discusses his role of Communications Officer Bryce on Star Trek Discovery and his next appearance on BET.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in Star Trek?

Ronnie Rowe Jr.: I auditioned and was so lucky to land a role in such an iconic show. It’s truly been a great journey so far.

Review Fix: Did you watch it as a kid?

Rowe Jr.: I sure did. I was a big fan of Next Generation so when I heard Star Trek was filming in Toronto, I was really excited.

Review Fix: Tell us about your character. What makes him special?

Rowe Jr.: I play Communications Officer Bryce. He’s on the bridge of The Discovery and is is the link between The Discovery and other vessels.

Review Fix: How is this character different from the roles you prefer to play?

Rowe Jr.: This character is actually very similar to some of the characters I have played. What makes it different is that it is all happening in space.

Review Fix: What makes this series different?

Rowe Jr.: The show is unique in that it is link to the current political times and also the wide range of diversity that is evident in the cast. I think it’s a great series that is paving the way for different types of opportunities for many actors.

Review Fix: What have you learned about yourself through this character?

Rowe Jr.: It helped me fine tune doing scenes with 8-10 cast members at a time and it sharpened my listening.

Review Fix: What’s next for you?

Rowe Jr.: I will be playing a prosecutor on a new BET legal drama call In Contempt. It follows a female defensive lawyer who is my nemesis. Watch out for that coming soon.
