NXT Coverage: Bate and Dunn Tear Down the House

This was the best-in-ring episode of NXT of 2017. Three insane matches and just enough storyline to tease next week and there was plenty of balance and intrigue.

Matches:

NXT Tag Team Champions: Sanity: Killian Dane and Eric Young vs. The Undisputed Era: Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly: This was a war that saw Young get beat down, but show a ton of heart. Fish and O’Reilly were the better team as they kept Dane out of the match for most of it. Once Dane got in the match, he evened things up, but Adam Cole and Nikki Cross got involved and things got nuts. Things fell apart after Young took out Cole on the outside and then walked into the Total Elimination to give Fish and O’Reilly their first NXT Tag Team titles.

#1 Contenders Tournament: Lars Sullivan vs. Roderick Strong: Sullivan got the win thanks to the Freak Accident, but Strong was amazing and made Sullivan look great.

WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunn vs. Tyler Bate: This was a five-star match as Dunn worked on Bates hands and fingers throughout. At the same time, Bate’s speed, heart and strength were on full exhibition. At one point, Bate kicked out of The Bitter End and it felt like he was ready to regain his title. Dunn however, like a classic heel, fought back and kicked out of the Tyler Driver 97 before hitting The Bitter End again to steal the win.
