205 Live Coverage: Drake Who?

A new GM in Rockstar Spud and the promise of Roderick Strong next week made 205 Live a better experience than usual and was reinforced by more focus on quality in-ring competition. Is it where it needs to be? Nope. But it’s a start, albeit a slow one.

Matches:

Cruiserweight Title Tournament: Cedric Alexander vs. Gran Metalik: This was the type of match you would have expected during the Cruiserweight classic. Metalik was on fire with a beautiful DDT and plenty of high-flying antics, but Alexander got the win after a Spanish Fly and the Lumbar Check.

Cruiserweight Title Tournament: TJ Perkins vs. Tyler Bate: Perkins was outmatched for a huge portion of this match as the much stronger and surprisingly athletic Bate had his way with him. Luckily for Perkins, a Rollup and a handful of tights were enough to beat the former WWE UK Champion. Overall, this match had a good feel and could have been better- they had the time. The finish felt like something used to build Perkins more as a heel and not something to build the drama of the tournament or show.
