Review Fix Exclusive: Dario Distasi Talks Upcoming EP And More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Dario Distasi, who discusses his influences, creative process and goals for his upcoming EP.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Dario Distasi: Since playing in my very first band as a guitarist – I wasn’t interested into being the lead singer back then – songwriting has always been my thing.

I’ve been writing for several years now; at one point, I felt like it was the right time to go solo.

When I moved to Manchester, back in 2015, I did it because of its vibrant music scene; plenty of great bands here!
Some of my faves are Lester Verde and The Lotus; do check them out.

It’s been a great choice, as since then, I have both been able to play with a few local bands, and perform solo acoustic gigs.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Distasi: To me, no two songs are the same. Sometimes, it’ll all start from a chord progression; or, maybe, the lyrics will be the main inspiration. I have found using different instruments is also very helpful (keys, instead of guitar, or maybe a nice bass line). No matter the process, however – in my experience, strong songs come relatively quickly to me.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Distasi: I think it’s Stuck in here, which is gonna be on my upcoming EP. The chord progression has been written on my acoustic guitar, then I made a full rock band pre-arrangement. When working with producer Drew Middleton in Nashville (TN), the song – which I already liked very much – has grown to a whole new level. I am in love with that tune. As per the tracks you can currently listen to on Spotify and other mainstream platforms, I think “Coming Around” is my favorite one. Coming Around, my debut EP, is on:

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2018?

Distasi: I have been writing new material for quite a while now, and even though I already have the songs I had been looking for for my new release…

Recording in Nashville has always been among my dreams. Well, that dream is turning into reality now.

I am looking forward to the final result.

So far, I find the overall production simply amazing.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Distasi: Personally, when an album really blows my mind I’ll feel the need to listen to that again asap; it’s like going to a safe haven and disconnecting from the world outside. I sincerely hope that’s what my music will mean for the listeners.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Distasi: Right now, my head is completely focused on the recording process.

Next steps: rehearsing, having a final release date and planning gigs to support my upcoming EP.

I will make sure to let everyone know about those.
