Review Fix Exclusive: Oddnote’s Arman Asadsangabi Talks ‘Mystified’ And More

Review Fix chats with Oddnote’s Arman Asadsangabi, who discusses the band’s origin. goals and creative process behind their new single, “Mystified.”

Review Fix: How did the band get together?

Arman Asadsangabi: The band was started in the fall of 2017, when I decided I wanted to create and release a record. All of the songs came out one specific day and were built on leading up to the new year. I found the band members from the university I go to, Belmont University; and things kind of just clicked and moved forward very smoothly since then.

Review Fix: Is there a band you try and emulate in one way or another?

Asadsangabi: We don’t try to emulate any bands, it’s more of an inspiration that we gather from these different bands. A few in particular are Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age and Arctic Monkeys.

Review Fix: How was “Mystified” written?

Asadsangabi: I wrote Mystified in the spring of 2018 while going through some rough patches in my relationship. It just so happened that the song became more of an introspective outlook on the world we’re living in today, and with that.. everything built into it just slowly came perfectly together.

Review Fix: What are your long-term goals as a band?

Asadsangabi: To inspire the next generation of musicians to keep rock music moving forward as a genre. We want to show anyone willing to listen that commercial sounding music doesn’t have to sound any particular way. It’s all about the soul & energy, and we hope we can one day display that in all the music we release in the future.

Review Fix: Where do you see yourselves in five years?

Asadsangabi: Besides our dreams of “big” gig performances and late night show appearances, we’ll probably be doing the same exact thing we’re doing now. Touring, writing and recording music.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Asadsangabi: Music is always changing, but nothing can replicate soul and the human touch. We simply want to keep this idea moving forward in popular music, and we’re not going anywhere until we’ve made a dent in the industry as a whole.
