Review Fix Exclusive: The Saba Brothers Talks Origin in Music and More

Review Fix chats with The Saba Brothers, Raymond Saba (Guitar/Vocals), Steven Saba (Drums/Vocals) and Nathan Saba (Bass Guitar/Vocals) who discuss their origin in music and goals for the future.

About the Saba Brothers:

Think Rock, Pop, Roots that’s infused with a Ska twist, and you will get one of Australia’s hottest rising bands, The Saba Brothers ‘S3.’

Making waves locally with their strong message of feel-good positivity, the Sydney based trio are set to release their debut radio release within the coming days.

S3’s first single “Walk Away,” showcases their characteristics & flare in a three-and-a-half-minute experience of respite from the modernistic clutches of stereotypical rock/pop.

Review Fix: How did the band get together? Was it because of your kinship or do you think it could have happened anyway if you weren’t related?

It was all to do with us being brothers. We don’t believe we would have the connection if it weren’t for our kinship. It is a special bond that you cannot achieve in any other way and we believe this is reflected in our music and live performances.

Review Fix:
How did you all get involved in music?

Raymond: We all had a little dabble into music when we were in primary school, but nothing eventuated out of this. In fact we packed the instruments away at one point. But when we were watching Xfactor 2010, we were inspired by watching Australians get up on stage and performing. One by one we pulled out our instruments. Me with my guitar, Steve with his drums and at that point Nathan was only 6 years old and wasn’t playing anything. In fact he had a voice that should only sing in the shower! Now he is singing lead on our brand new track “Walk Away”.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Steven: There is no one set way of creating. Sometimes it can stem from a lyric or two that we have come up with. Sometimes a whole song is written in one big wave. Sometimes it is lyric by lyric. Other times it could start with a guitar riff, bass line or drum beat.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Nathan: Creating music that has powerful messages that every individual can relate to in their own way. We have songs that are just for fun! But we are inspired to write songs that will empower people and hopefully make a difference for them. Music can be the celebration, the comfort, the medicine when all else fails. Our own experiences as well as the experiences of others that we see around us, inspire us with our lyrics.

The will to succeed and have a bond that keep us together drives us forward. The focus on making a successful career in the music industry inspires us every day.

Review Fix: What makes “Walk Away” a special track?

Raymond: This song is written with a beat to enjoy but more importantly to us, has a really important message to share. It is a song to empower people to be strong and elevate them. To know when to walk away from a negative situation or relationship and to have self-respect. Naturally we should always try to work things out, but if not, remove yourself from anyone or anything that does not value your worth. If you can deliver a message like that, all while enjoying a cool beat, we think that is what makes this track special.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Steven: We describe our sound as pop/rock. We like to think of ourselves as having a modern contemporary sound but having the element of old-school instrumentation that we often miss these days. Keeping it modern but bringing the old back!

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Nathan: At this point in time we try to keep our sound as similar as possible in our studio work and our live performances. Creating an authentic sound that we can easily replicate on stage is what we love to do. There is nothing quite like the feeling and adrenalin of live performances, this is something that really inspires us and gives us enjoyment and satisfaction when sharing our music.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2018?

Nathan: Well Steve’s goal (our drummer) is to do his HSC and finish school lol! Because after that, his schedule will open up more opportunity to delve into future song writing and performances with the boys. We want to promote our Debut EP called “LIFE” and getting out there as much as possible is the current goal.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Raymond: We have many new songs in the works and we are currently working on our very next single to be released in the not too distant future.

While we love to create our original music, our aim is to keep gigging live wherever possible. This includes entertaining audiences with covers that they know and love. It gives us a real kick when listeners join in with us to sing or dance along.

Review Fix:
Anything else you’d like to add?

Steven: Music is our life. This is our vision and our focus. We are all dedicated to achieving a career together.
