WWE RAW Coverage: Shield or Bust

The continued dependence on older stars and vignettes from The Brothers of Destruction and DX prove that RAW has a lot of work ahead of it before it can hold its own with its current generation of stars. Simply put, as cool as The Shield is, it’s not enough to run a three-hour show.

Matches:

Crown Jewel Qualifier: Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. WWE RAW Tag Team Champion Drew McIntyre: Interference from Dolph Ziggler kept McIntyre in the match throughout, but Dean Ambrose eventually evened the odds, which allowed Rollins to hit the Stomp on McIntyre on the outside and get back in the ring and win via count-out.

Ember Moon and Nia Jax vs. Dana Brooke and Tamina Snuka: Moon beat Brooke with the Eclipse, but Snuka returned with a bang and hit Jax with a Samoan Drop and plenty of strikes. After the match, Snuka nailed Jax with a Super Kick and both Moon and Snuka threw Jax over the top rope before Brooke threw both Jax and Moon over the top.

Crown Jewel Qualifier: Dean Ambrose vs. WWE RAW Tag Team Champion Dolph Ziggler: Ambrose pushed Seth Rollins on the outside and that left him open to a Super Kick from Ziggler, who beat him with the maneuver. The jury remains as to if Ambrose knew it was Rollins. After the match though, Ambrose pushed himself away from The Kingslayer.

Finn Balor w/Bayley vs. Jinder Mahal w/Sunil Singh and Alicia Fox: Balor got the win with the Coup De Grace, but after the match, Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush hit the ring to make sure Balor knew they were coming.

Bobby Lashley w/Lio Rush vs. Tyler Breeze: This was a glorified squash as Breeze hit some offense, but Lashley won with the modified Dominator.

Kurt Angle vs. The Authors of Pain: Akam and Rezar w/Drake Maverick: AOP beat on someone else in The Conquistador outfit and Angle nailed Corbin with an Olympic Slam on the ramp.

Natalya w/Bayley and Sasha Banks vs. Ruby Riott w/Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan: This broke down as all three competitors beat on each other, but Natalya and company got the last laugh.

The Shield: WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs. Braun Strowman and WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre: Ziggler threw Rollins into Ambrose and then hit the Lunatic with the Zig-Zag but couldn’t win. Although they had issues communicating, they still won with the Triple Powerbomb. After the match, Strowman nailed Ziggler with the Running Powerslam, but McIntyre cut Strowman in half.
