NXT Coverage: Promo Night

Just like 205 Live, this week’s NXT was all about the promo. From Velveteen Dream and Tommaso Ciampa talking smack, to Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano preparing to take their feud to the next level, NXT managed to entertain without a ton of in-ring action.

Make no mistake, even without a great match, the thought of a steel cage match between Johnny Gargano and Aleister Black was more than enough to make sure this week’s episode wasn’t a stinker.

Matt Riddle vs. Punishment Martinez: Riddle got the win with the Bro-Mission, but Martinez made an excellent first impression in NXT. After the match, Kassius Ohno nailed Riddle with the KO Elbow.

The Forgotten Sons: Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake w/Jaxson Ryker vs. Raul Mendoza and Humberto Carrillo: Mendoza and Carillo were impressive with High-Flying maneuvers, but Cutler and Blake won with the Scorpion Death Drop/Top Rope Stomp Combo.

NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler w/Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir vs. Dakota Kai: Baszler got the win with the Krifuda Clutch, but naturally, Kai hung in there and made it a match. Afterward, Duke and Shafir joined Baszler in the beatdown but were thwarted by Io Shirai.
