NXT UK Coverage: Storm Ready for 2019

It’s the final episode of NXT UK of the year, and what a year it’s been. Even though the brand is only a few months old, there have already been some memorable matches. NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool is now less than three weeks away. Tonight “The Virtuosa” Deonna Purrazzo challenges Rhea Ripley for her NXT UK Women’s Championship. The winner will face Toni Storm in Blackpool January 12th. Mark your calendars, because it’s shaping up to be a hell of a show.

Matches:

James Drake and Zack Gibson vs. “Wild Boar” Mike Hitchman and “Primate” Jay Melrose: Heel tactics gave Liverpool’s Number One and Co. the advantage early. Primate managed to escape and uncage the Wild Boar who planted Drake with a Uranagi/Senton Combo. Once again dirty tricks paid off for Gibson and Drake, giving them a chance to hit Ticket to Ride for the win.

“Bomber” Dave Mastiff vs. Josh Morrell: Morrell never made it to the ring. The ever slimy Eddie Dennis jumped him on the entrance ramp. We’re almost sure to see Mastiff and the former headmaster clash at TakeOver.

Mark Andrews vs. Marcel Barthel: The Ringkampf member took it to the mat immediately in an attempt to ground the high flyer. Eventually, Andrews kicked it into gear with Stomp182 and a Cannonball off the steps. Fabian Aichner ran in and attacked the pop-punk superstar. Barthel seized the opportunity and planted his opponent with an Inverted Exploder Suplex to pick up the win.

“The Virtuosa” Deonna Purrazzo vs. Rhea Ripley for the NXT UK Women’s Championship: Purrazzo came out swinging with a Headscissors Takedown and tied the champ up for a Basement Dropkick. Ripley displayed her mean streak, beating on the back of Porrazzo’s head. The New Jersey native managed to hit a Flatliner into a Koji Clutch, but the Mosh Pit Kid rolled her up for two. Purrazzo fought hard, but eventually, Ripley was able to end things with Riptide and retain her title.

After the match, Ripley tried to jump Purrazzo, but Toni Storm ran in to make the save.
