Review Fix Exclusive: Emily Taylor Adams Talks “Leave The Light On” And More

Review Fix chats with Emily Taylor Adams, who discusses her new single, “Leave The Light On,” as well as her creative process and goals for 2019.

Review Fix: Why and how did you get involved In music?

Emily Taylor Adams: When I was little, I used to sing non stop I could sing full songs apparently before I could speak full sentences, but the first memory that I remember wanting to pursue this dream was when i woulda been about 5-6 years old. I remember going to my sisters school talent show and watching her up there with a couple of friends, and they sang “in the still of the night”, i still remember what she was wearing and everything. I knew in that moment that I needed to be up there, i needed to share my heart and my soul to the world through music! I haven’t always been the best with words, or communicating, but when I’m on stage, when i’m singing i feel like that’s where my heart and me fully comes out!

Review Fix: What artists inspire you?

Adams: I would say that the artists that have inspired me number 1 would be the Dixie Chicks, ever since I was little I completely fell in love with their music, from the harmonies, to the twang, to just about everything about their sound. I still listen to their albums to this day mixed in with Kacey Musgraves who has taught so many people already to think outside the box music wise, to not be afraid to be who you are. Miranda Lambert, who is a complete badass, another female artist who has never been afraid of being her authentic self! Mixed in with some more killer females breaking the mold, Maren morris, Kelsea Ballerini, Lauren Alaina!

Review Fix: How was “Leave the Light On” written?

Adams: My Co-writer Beth Marie Anderson and I were talking about her and her fiance and how passionately in love they are, how they’re planning their wedding and starting a new chapter in their life. They have a soul bond that anyone can see, then we started talking about how I wanted to find that kind of love one day! We were looking through our list of titles and “Leave The Light On” popped out and it just seemed so fitting for our vulnerable chat and this song just poured out in a couple of hours!

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2019?

Adams: My goals oh wow, there is just so many! I wanna get more shows, more music out, harness my craft, learn more, become a better writer, better vocalist. Being able to reach a larger audience, both online and in person.

Review Fix: How does this song help make these goals a reality?

Adams: This song from the moment Beth and I wrote it, I knew it was special! This song comes from a place of vulnerability, from love, passion, and a place of just knowing when you’ve found the one, and to me this song is the one! I’m not sure what it is about this song that just has my heart, but it’s so raw and lays it all out there and I think that’s why i love it so much! It’s a story of love, which I believe in so strongly!

Review Fix: How do you want this song to be remembered?

Adams: I want it to be remembered as a song that portrays who I am as an artist and as a person, i’m a strong believer in love and think it shows the vulnerability in people, in music, and in lyrics! Maybe even some couples will remember it as ‘their song’ which is the best thing I could hope for!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Adams: Ahh where do I even start! I have tons of things in the works, working on my live show not just to sing songs, but to create an experience my fans will always remember. I want to be able to reach more people with my music, create new fans and friendships! Working on an EP unsure as of now on a release date, but hoping by the end of this year, but first I gotta get back to my second home Nashville to get some more music started and finished. So many things I can’t wait to do and hope you all join me on this journey!

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Adams: Hm… I think that it’s important to know that everyone is going through their own battles in life, everyday is your choice to be happy, to smile, to laugh, even if you feel like the whole world is caving in, you can always find a light at the end of the tunnel! I promise! There is a solution, positivity, and a lesson in everything! In every relationship whether it’s personal, or business related, trust, honesty and love is the most important thing!

Review Fix: Bottom line, why should someone listen to “Leave the Light On”?

Adams: I think if you’re in love, falling in love, found your soulmate, this is the song for you!
